These kits include brake hard lines and adapter fittings to aid with the installation of the MM Manual Brake Conversion Kit (MMBAK-10) on 1979-93 Mustangs. The brake master cylinder will be relocated to a position 6.5" closer to the firewall when the MM Manual Brake Conversion Kit is installed. This new position requires changes in the routing of the brake hard lines. We have developed kits to help with the installation of the four most popular master cylinders. The correct choice of adapter kit depends on the master cylinder being used, and whether the stock brake proportioning valve/junction block is retained or if the chassis has been re-plumbed with standard 3/16" brake lines.
We have designed adapter kits for each of the four most popular master cylinders.
- 1987-93 power brakes (3 outlet ports)
- 1986 SVO power brakes (2 outlet ports)
- 1993 Cobra (2 outlet ports)
- 1994 GT (2 outlet ports)
Recommended for race cars! When the stock proportioning valve will be removed, to be replaced by T-fittings, and the brake lines will be re-plumbed with standard 3/16" hard lines (which have standard 3/8"-24 thread tube nuts), use the appropriate MMBAK-X.2 kit for your master cylinder. The .2 version kits include adapter fittings for the master cylinder only, so that they will match 3/8"-24 flare fittings used on standard 3/16" brake hard lines.
For most 4-wheel disc brake equipped cars, we recommend the 1" diameter bore 1993 Cobra master cylinder, BMC-2. If an adjustable proportioning valve will also be fitted, a MMBAK-6 stock proportioning valve bypass kit is required.
