NMRA West Coast autocross

July 9-10, 2011 - The Results
MM's 1996 Mustang wins Top Time of Day in its very first autocross entry.

Saturday
  • Top Time of Day. Bested a field of over 60 cars, including a Ford GT
Sunday
  • Third overall and second in class, in a field of over 60 cars
  • Fastest raw time by 2/10 second, but bested in class only by the Ford GT due to a two second cone penalty
The Car
  • 1996 Mustang 4.6L 2V. A street-driven car, with a full interior, stereo, air conditioning, etc.
  • Equipped with MM's Maximum Grip Box, with spring rates selected for serious open-tracking.
  • Dyno-tuned by Powertrain Dynamics: 283 rwhp and 312 rwtq
  • Tires: Treadwear rating 200, Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, 265/40-17
  • Recently acquired by MM from 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords magazine
The Driver
  • Mike Croutcher
  • Experience: Several American Iron wins in MM's road race Mustang, the well-known yellow #91, as well as autocrossing in a wide variety of cars
  • First time behind the wheel of this particular Mustang was just one week before this autocross
  • Mike drove the car to the event, 250 miles from the Maximum Motorsports facility.

Location: Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.
