The green flag drops for the start of the race. The MM American Iron Mustang #91, driven by Mike Croutcher, immediately passes polesitter Keith Videtto. In the middle of the first turn Videtto taps the right rear corner of the MM car, sending Mike spinning to the inside of the corner. Mike gets back on track, but is now dead last. Mike passes 8 cars by the end of the first lap, even though he is forced off track again by an inattentive FFR driver.

  Lap 6 - 2:03   Win   Quick
Mike is distracted by the soaring water temperature, leading to some erratic driving. When the temperature stabilizes above 240 degrees, Mike refocuses on his driving and presses on.

  Lap 7 - 2:03   Win   Quick
Another AI car gets shown the rear bumper of the MM car.

  Lap 8 - 2:02   Win   Quick
Mike has the track to himself as he continues trying to catch the leaders.

  Lap 9 - 2:02   Win   Quick
And one more AI car is overtaken.
